Introduction of Our Programmes - Pharmacy

The University of Pécs Medical School and the Faculty of Pharmacy offer five programmes in English for international students: General Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Biotechnology BSc and Biotechnology MSc.

This time, let us guide you through our Pharmacy programme.

Degree: Dr. Pharm.

Duration of training: 5 years (10 semesters)

The tuition fee for the academic year 2022/2023 is 8400 EUR (4400 EUR for the first and 4000 EUR for the second semester)

The five-year-long Academic Programme offered by the Faculty of Pharmacy leads to the degree of Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.)

The Pharmacy programme consists of five years (10 semesters) of basic and special studies.

The first two academic years are devoted to basic sciences providing a basis for further pharmaceutical studies.

During the 3rd, 4th and 5th years undergraduates obtain general and specialized pharmaceutical competencies (knowledge, skills and attitude). After the 2nd, and the 3rd years, students take part in practical training in public pharmacies or at a pharmaceutical company in Hungary or in their home countries. The written Thesis must be submitted in the 9th semester, and in the 10th semester there is a 6 months practical training programme in public and hospital pharmacies. After the practical training period, students take examinations in the presence of the State Board, where they have to prove their skills in pharmaceutical sciences (both practical and theoretical). 

The basic module consists of subjects like Mathematics, Informatics, Biostatistics, Physics-Biophysics, and different types of Chemistry (eg. general, inorganic or analytical).

The medical-biology module includes subjects like Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Anatomy, Latin, Physiology and Pathophysiology, Pharmaceutical Botany etc.

In the professional module subjects like Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Biopharmacy, Pharmaceutical Practice and Management etc.

The Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) diploma entitles its holder to work in public and hospital pharmacies, laboratories, pharmaceutical works, pharmaceutical research institutes, international commercial trade of pharmaceuticals, and management of pharmaceutical materials.
