Besides offering excellent education, Pécs is also a great place to live if you’re looking for a more affordable lifestyle.

If you’ve been accepted into a medical or dental program, Pécs not only provides excellent education but also a budget-friendly way of life.

Compared to Budapest, living here costs significantly less, which means you’ll have more money to enjoy leisure activities or even travel. Although rent prices are rising, they’re still reasonable: you can rent a one-room apartment for 80,000 to 120,000 HUF, while a similar place in Budapest could cost up to 200,000 HUF.

Daily expenses are easy to manage too. A student public transport pass is just 3,450 HUF a month, lunch at Umami is between 2,000 and 3,000 HUF.

Pécs also has an amazing cultural scene, with plenty of events either free or at a discount. A movie ticket costs around 1,500 to 3,000 HUF, and theater tickets are between 2,000 and 3,500 HUF. There’s always something happening, like the Pécs Days Festival in September, which fills the charming old town with concerts, exhibitions, and food.

On top of that, Pécs is known for being safe and friendly, with locals and international students enjoying great relationships.

You can live comfortably on 150,000 to 250,000 HUF per month, covering your rent, food, transport, and fun activities!
