The University of Pécs Medical School is once again the top medical school outside Budapest, according to the latest Times Higher Education (THE) rankings. Just like last year, UPMS ranked among the top 500 medical schools worldwide, placing 452nd in the 2026 list.
Pécs also performed strongly in the QS Rankings, entering the top 300 globally and moving up to 292nd place in Europe. Among Hungarian universities, Pécs ranked highest for learning experience and international student diversity, with big improvements in sustainability and student exchange opportunities.
These results highlight UPMS’s growing strength in research, teaching, and international connections—and confirm that studying medicine in Pécs means being part of a globally recognized university.
