The General Medicine program at the University of Pécs
Medical School is a six-year, twelve-semester, one-tier master’s degree
designed to provide comprehensive medical education and clinical training. The
curriculum is organized into four major modules that progressively guide
students from foundational sciences to advanced clinical practice.
The Basic Module, completed during the first and second years, focuses on building a solid scientific foundation. During this period, students study the structure and functioning of the human body alongside core disciplines such as biophysics, chemistry, biochemistry, and medical informatics.
In the Preclinical Module of the third year, the emphasis shifts toward understanding disease mechanisms. Students explore pathological processes, microbiology, and pharmacology, bridging the gap between basic sciences and clinical medicine while preparing for patient-centered learning.
The Clinical Module, spanning the fourth and fifth years, introduces extensive hands-on experience. Students participate in patient care across various medical specialties, working closely with experienced physicians and applying theoretical knowledge in real clinical settings.
The program concludes with the Rotational Year in the sixth year. This final stage consists of clinical rotations lasting between four and twelve weeks in different hospital departments, offering intensive practical training and preparing students for independent medical practice.
