Welcome to Pécs! Starting university is an incredible milestone, and while adjusting to a new environment can feel overwhelming, you do not have to navigate it alone. Senior students across our programs have shared their wisdom to help you adapt, thrive, and build a rewarding university experience from day one.

Navigating Your Academics Academic success in university comes down to consistency, smart strategy, and collaboration. The transition becomes much smoother when you handle your initial paperwork and unpacking right away so you can establish a strong routine. Once classes begin, make a habit of reviewing your lecture notes daily and staying on top of weekly pre-lab requirements rather than leaving everything for the final exam period. Pay close attention to your course curriculum and prioritize obligatory prerequisite subjects early on. Remember that you are not in this alone: collaborate with fellow classmates, draw on the guidance and notes of senior students who have already passed those courses, and never hesitate to ask professors for help when you are stuck.

Finding Balance and Well-Being While your studies are important, taking care of your health and mind is what keeps you going for the long haul. Give yourself grace in the first few weeks, focus on progress rather than perfection, and understand that adaptation takes time. To avoid burnout, build structured habits that care for your body through exercise, your mind through reflection or meditation, and your happiness through simple hobbies. Be intentional with your schedule by keeping dedicated rest days, such as taking Sundays completely off, and make sure to fully unplug during holidays.

Exploring Pécs and Building Community University life extends far beyond the classroom, and Pécs has so much to offer. Step away from the books to explore the city centre, discover local parks, try new restaurants, and capture memories of your many "firsts." Get involved on campus by joining student societies, attending university events, and connecting with people from different cultures. Everyone here is eager to help and make new friends, so step out of your comfort zone, say yes to new opportunities, and embrace this exciting new chapter. You’ve got this!
